The Second edition of Bhubaneswar Poetry Festival (BPF 2017), a national festival of Literature, Art, Culture, Debate and Discourse, is going to be held on 14th and 15th October, 2017 at Mayfair Convention, Bhubaneswar.
The first ever poetry festival in Odisha, Bhubaneswar Poetry Festival (BPF 2016), which was held on October 8th, 2016, witnessed a huge gathering of around 500 authors from across the country that included senior poets from the state
as well as from outside.
Organised by PEN IN Books and Odisha Story at Mayfair Lagoon, BPF 2016, in fact, was the first of its kind festival to be held in eastern as well as north-eastern India, Bhubaneswar being the fifth city in the country to host an exclusively poetry fest after Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Chennai.
This year the second edition of the festival, BPF 2017, will host more than a hundred speakers from different walks of life including literature, art, culture, music, cinema, theatre, media, social service and politics.
The central theme of Bhubaneswar Poetry Festival-2017 is “Mahanadi”. River Mahanadi holds pride of place in Odisha’s art, culture, history, literature, environment and social conscience, and has influenced poets and philosophers down the centuries. We at BPF feel that there could be no better moment than now, to effect recall of the vast body of literature on this heritage river which holds immense significance in Odia conscience.

For the first time 10 young Odia authors are going to be conferred with PEN IN YOUNG AUTHOR AWARD (PIYAA 2017) during Bhubaneswar Poetry Festival 2017. There manuscripts will be published by PEN IN Books.

Asit Swain, Bandana Mohanty, Elina Kanungo, Jayanti Behera, Subhadra Priyadarshini Nayak and Sumit Panda will get this ward for their poetry manuscripts, while Archana, Bhagirathi Behera, Narmada Sahu and Sukanti Rout will be awarded for fiction.
